Lip 7–9 mm long; claw linear; limb short, reflexed at the apex with 2 appendages at the point of reflexion; appendages 2-lobed, the upper lobe long with a papillate apex, the lower lobe short and recurved.
Leaves 2, opposite, 1.5–5.5 × 1–3.5 cm, ovate, acute, usually cordate at base, dark green, sometimes purplish beneath.
Inflorescence 1–3-flowered; flowers pale to deep mauve-pink, occasionally almost white, with purple marks inside hood.
Terrestrial herb 7–24 cm tall; stem purplish; tubers 1–3 cm long, ellipsoid or globose, densely hairy.
Lateral sepals ± free, 7–10 × 4–8 mm, obliquely ovate, acute, each with a sac-like spur 1.5–2 mm long.
Dorsal sepal 7–11 mm long, linear-lanceolate, joined to petals to form an open hood.
Petals 7–10 × 3.5–4 mm, lobed on free margin.
Bracts leaf-like, of similar length.
Ovary and pedicel c. 12 mm long.
