Characteristics

Similar to D. welwitschii (19) but stems, leaves, receptacle and sepals with sparse, simple, ± long and appressed bristles; leaf-lamina up to 11·5 x l·5 cm., linear-lanceolate to lanceolate; inflorescences rather smaller, with fewer flowers; floriferous receptacle slightly larger, up to 10 x 6 mm.; sepals also larger, c. 10 x 4 mm.; intersepalar segments present, 4 mm. long, linear, setose at the apex; anthers, pedoconnectives and respective appendages longer; fructiferous receptacle somewhat larger, up to 12 x 8·5 mm.; capsule also larger.
