Leaves 4–8, 70–120 × 3–4 mm, straight or twisted. Flower stem 150–400 mm, 1–5-flowered. Flowers 15–20 mm across, bright yellow with two brown basal spots on dorsal sepal and brown callus outline. Dorsal sepal erect to recurved, 12–15 × 6–7 mm. Lateral sepals obliquely deflexed below labellum, 13–16 × 3–4 mm. Petals obliquely erect to recurved; stalk 4–6 mm long, dark brown; blade 9–11 × 6–7 mm. Labellum 12–15 mm long; lateral lobes 5–6 × 2.5–3 mm; midlobe flattish, margins shallow downcurved, ovate when flattened, 10–13 × 7–8 mm. Callus ridges 2, 6–7 mm long, parallel.
Highly localised; forming colonies on river flats and among shrubs in dense, stunted forest dominated by Cup Gum (Eucalyptus cosmophylla); also in low heath and sedges on swamp margins. Grows in moist to wet sand and clay loam. In some areas this orchid survives in exotic pine plantations.
