Leaves 2, 150–400 × 8–12 mm, folded. Flower stem 300–700 mm, 2–12-flowered. Flowers semi-nodding, 20–25 mm across, opening bright yellow with dark brown markings, fading to pale yellow. Dorsal sepal projected forwards, 9–12 × 5–7 mm. Lateral sepals deflexed, 10–16 × 1–2 mm. Petals horizontal, often reflexed or drooping; stalk 4–6 mm long, brown; blade elliptical, 9–13 × 5–8 mm. Labellum 10–15 mm long; lateral lobes 1.5–2.5 × 0.6 mm; midlobe ovate, 9–12 × 6–8 mm. Callus ridges 2, c. 4.5 mm long, divergent.

Environment

Occurs in scattered populations, but locally common; on Mt Moffat it grows in flat areas of sparse woodland on sandstone ridges and escarpments in freely draining sands and gravels; in Carnarvon Gorge grows among shrubs and heath in brown loam developed on basalt.
