Characteristics

Leaves 2–5, tufted, 150–300 × 2–3.5 mm, straight. Flower stem 300–800 mm tall, 1–6-flowered. Flowers 20–25 mm across, yellow with dark red markings on dorsal sepal, petals (sometimes uniformly yellow) and labellum. Dorsal sepal obliquely erect, 7–13 × 5.5–8 mm, red basal blotch and smaller apical blotch usually prominent, marginal blotches often also present. Lateral sepals obliquely deflexed below labellum, parallel or crossed, 10–14 × 2–3.5 mm. Petals obliquely erect; stalk 3–5 mm long, red-brown; blade 7–12 × 6–10 mm. Labellum 8–12 mm long; lateral lobes 4–7 × 2–3 mm, widely spreading, red basal blotch prominent; midlobe convex, margins strongly downcurved, broadly wedge-shaped when flattened, 7–11 × 8–12 mm, outer margins and apex often heavily marked with red. Callus ridges 2, 3–4 mm long, parallel.
