Characteristics

Leaves 2 or 3, 80–200 × 3–8 mm, folded. Flower stem 180–300 mm, 1–6-flowered. Flowers 25–35 mm across, yellow heavily marked with brown; petals yellow, dorsal sepal yellow suffused with light brown, labellum lateral lobes brown towards tips, midlobe with prominent mauve-purple markings. Dorsal sepal erect, 8–11 × 8–13 mm. Lateral sepals deflexed, parallel or crossed, shallowly recurved, 12–19 × 2–3 mm. Petals obliquely erect; stalk 3–5 mm long, curved, blackish; blade broadly elliptic, 12–14 × 5–11 mm. Labellum 7–9 mm long; lateral lobes 7–9 × 3–5 mm; midlobe convex, margins downcurved, wedge-shaped when flattened, 6–8 × 4–7 mm. Callus ridge 1, 4–5 mm long, yellow surrounded by mauve-purple.

Environment

Widespread in coastal and near-coastal areas; growing in a range of habitats including coastal heath, jarrah forest with a low shrubby understorey, moist to wet stony clay near streams, the edge of coastal limestone cliffs and occasionally on stabilised sand dunes under peppermints.
