Leaf solitary, 200–350 × 3–4 mm, folded, base purple. Flower stem 120–450 mm, 1–6-flowered. Flowers semi-nodding, 20–25 mm across, pale yellow with brown markings. Dorsal sepal erect, 7–10 × 5–8 mm. Lateral sepals deflexed, 12–20 × 1.5–2.5 mm. Petals obliquely erect; stalk 3–5 mm long, dark; blade ovate, 6–10 × 6–8.5 mm. Labellum 6–9 mm long; lateral lobes 2.5–3 × 0.8–1.4 mm; midlobe broadly ovate, 5–8 × 4–7 mm, folded along midline. Callus ridges 2, 4–5 mm long, parallel.

Widespread and locally common; growing on slopes and ridges in drier forests, including rain-shadow areas, usually among scattered low shrubs and grass tussocks in shallow, freely draining, sandy or gravelly soil; at Blackdown Tableland it grows among sandstone boulders and on sandstone pavements.
