Leaves 2, 200–400 × 3–4 mm, folded. Flower stem 200–450 mm, 1–9-flowered. Flowers porrect to semi-erect, 17–22 mm across, whitish to pale mauve or lilac with darker purple spots and markings, petal stalks greenish with purple markings, callus area white. Dorsal sepal obliquely erect, 6–8 × 4.5–5.5 mm. Lateral sepals deflexed, 30–45 × 1–1.5 mm. Petals widely divergent; stalk 6–8.5 mm long, purple brown, expanded into blade; blade 3–4 × 2–3 mm, margins irregular. Labellum 5–6.5 mm long; lateral lobes 2–2.5 × 1 mm; midlobe shovel-shaped, 5–5.5 × 4–5 mm, tip recurved. Callus ridges 2, 3–4 mm long, large, thick, divergent, white to mauve with purple markings.
Highly localised; forming small colonies on ridges and slopes in drier, tall, open forest among grass and rocks (basalt, rhyolite and granite) in freely draining, gravelly soils and basaltic loam.
