Characteristics

Plants often grow in crowded tufts; leaves 2–6, thin, often thread-like, 60–150 × 1–1.5 mm. Flower stem 100–200 mm tall, 1–3-flowered. Flowers 9–11 mm across, pale yellow, dark red markings on dorsal sepal, petals (sometimes uniformly yellow) and labellum. Dorsal sepal obliquely erect, 7–10 × 3.5–5.5 mm, red basal blotch and smaller apical blotch usually prominent, marginal blotches often also present. Lateral sepals obliquely deflexed below labellum, parallel or crossed, 8–13 × 1–3 mm. Petals obliquely erect; stalk 3–5 mm long, red-brown; blade 6–9 × 4–8mm. Labellum 7–11 mm long; lateral lobes 3.5–7 × 2–3 mm, spreading, red apical blotch prominent; midlobe convex, margins strongly downcurved, wedge-shaped when flattened, 6–8.5 × 6–8.5 mm, outer margins often heavily marked with red. Callus ridges 2, 2.5–3.5 mm long.
