Characteristics

Leaves 6–10, tufted, 50–100 × 1–2 mm, spirally twisted. Flower stem 150–300 mm, 2–7-flowered. Flowers 25–30 mm across, yellow with a few dark red-brown markings on dorsal sepal, labellum and callus outline. Dorsal sepal erect, 13–16 × 7–8 mm. Lateral sepals obliquely deflexed below labellum, 15–18 × 2–3 mm. Petals obliquely erect or recurved, divergent; stalk 3–5 mm long, greenish brown; blade 11–14 × 6–7 mm. Labellum 12–1  long; lateral lobes 4–6 × 4 mm, spreading; midlobe flattish to shallowly convex, margins variably downcurved, diamond-shaped when flattened, 9–11 × 6–8 mm. Callus ridges 2, 5–7 mm long.

Environment

A widely distributed species that is sometimes locally common, especially on burnt ground. It grows in a range of habitats, including stunted shrubland on ironstone and laterite ridges, shrubby forest, grassy woodland and low, heathy scrub on granite outcrops in shallow, sandy soil.
