Characteristics

Leaf solitary, 150–280 × 3–7 mm, folded, base purple. Flower stem 150–450 mm, 1–8-flowered. Flowers porrect to semi-nodding, 18–25 mm across, bright lemon-yellow with dark petal claws and dark markings on dorsal sepal and labellum (labellum sometimes orange). Dorsal sepal erect, 7–10 × 5–7 mm. Lateral sepals obliquely deflexed, 8–18 × 2–3 mm, parallel or crossed. Petals obliquely erect; stalk 4–5 mm long, blackish; blade elliptic to orbicular, 5–8 × 5–8 mm. Labellum 7–9 mm long; lateral lobes 3–4 × 2–2.5 mm; midlobe convex, margins downcurved, broadly wedge-shaped when flattened, 6–8 × 5–8 mm. Callus ridges 2, 4–5 mm long, thick, divergent.

Environment

Widespread and locally common; growing in coastal and near-coastal habitats including heath, treed heathland, wallum, coastal forests on stabilised dunes and among sedges and rushes near coastal lakes. Soils include freely draining sand to seasonally moist to wet clay loam.
