Characteristics

Flowers c. 15–20 mm across. According to H.M.R. Rupp (1944) ‘Dorsal sepal and petals sulphur yellow. Lateral sepals pale green. Labellum darker than the other segments, almost orange’. According to Rupp the flowers have a strong iris-like scent.

Environment

Grows in grassy forests in gravelly soil. There was no sign of any orchids remaining on ‘Green Valley’, when the author visited in 1989. The property had been heavily grazed for many years, completely destroying the original habitat.
