Dioecious erect shrub to 0.8 m high. Leaves simple, opposite, rigid, erect, sessile, linear or rarely narrowly oblanceolate, acute, decurrent at base, 0.2–1.5 cm long, 0.1–0.2 cm wide, pubescent or rarely glabrescent; margin strongly revolute, entire or often with 2–4 lobes or teeth at or above middle. Flowers solitary; pedicel 0.5–2 mm long. Sepals 4, ovate, 2.5–5.5 mm long, persistent. Stamens 8. Ovary pubescent. Capsule 4-angled, subglobose or broadly obovate in lateral view, 4–9 mm long, 5–8 mm wide, densely pubescent and grey-tomentose; appendages lobe-like, at or above middle of capsule, 0.5–1 mm wide, crustaceous; dehiscence septifragal.
