Calyx glabrous, reddish-brown with resin deposits; tube 2–3 mm long; lobes 2–3 mm long, triangular; upper pair fused for almost all of their length.
Ovary 4–6 mm long, linear-oblong, compressed, puberulent on the margins; style 5–10 mm long; stigma minute, terminal, capitate, penicillate.
Flowers axillary, solitary, in pairs or in 3–6-flowered fascicles, pedicels 0.8–6.5 cm long, glabrescent; bracts absent; bracteoles minute.
Standard magenta, flushed green on outer surface, 11–14 × 10–14 mm, almost round; wings purple; keel paler with purple tip.
Pods 4.3–5 cm × 7–9 mm, narrowly oblanceolate, glabrous on the surfaces but sparsely puberulent along the margins.
Prostrate herb 15–50 cm long, arising from a perennial tuberous rootstock to 15 × 10 cm.
Stems annual, narrow, branching, slightly angled, sparsely pubescent.
