Leaves 1-foliolate; leaflet 2.2–6.5 × 1.1–4.2 cm, ovate, acute at the apex, truncate at the base, glabrous; petiole 7–14 mm long, glabrescent; stipules 6–15 × 3–8 mm, ovate, striate; stipels 2 mm long.

Inflorescence subcapitate or a very compact pseudoraceme; peduncle 2–6 cm long; rhachis 3–10 mm long, sparsely pubescent; pedicels 1 mm long; bracts and bracteoles 2 mm long, lanceolate.
Ovary 8–10 mm long, linear-oblong, compressed, glabrous on margins; style 5–10 mm long; stigma minute, terminal, capitate, penicillate.
Calyx glabrous; tube 2–3 mm long; lobes 1–2 mm long, triangular, upper pair fused along almost all of their length.
Standard purple, flushed green on the back, 10–14 × 11–16 mm, broadly obovate; wings and keel purple.
Trailing herb with procumbent stems to 50 cm long, arising from a perennial fibrous rootstock.
