Drakaea elastica Lindl.

Leaf often withered at flowering time, 15–20 mm across, heart-shaped, bright green, glossy, veins inconspicuous. Flower stem 120–300 mm tall. Pedicel 10–12 mm long. Tepals 12–15 × 1.5–2 mm, pale greenish yellow and some red. Labellum basal stalk 7–9 mm long, pale green, unspotted. Labellum lamina 10–12 × 3.5–4 mm, 2-coloured, dark red to purple with pale green middle section, sometimes mostly pale green; head structure narrower than rest of lamina, densely covered with large, shiny black calli and protruding branched hairs; middle section swollen, bulging below rest of lamina, with red spots (no warts); tail narrow, straight, glabrous. Column 8–10 mm long; foot 8–10 mm long. Anther cap blunt, no apical point.

Highly localised and restricted to a narrow coastal band; growing in Banksia woodland mixed with Kunzea glabrescens in deep sandy soil and litter adjacent to winter-wet sites.
