Plants tall and robust, up to 1 m., flowering before the leaves.. Leaves lanceolate, ciliate.. Inflorescence an extremely dense raceme with 100-140 flowers per 10 cm.; bracts 13-20 mm., with a pit or a spur in the middle; pedicels 4-8 mm.. Perianth-segments 13-19 mm. long, united 3-4 mm., pinkish or cream with mauve lines.. Filaments narrowly triangular and united with the perianth-segments, free part up to 12 mm.. Ovary ovoid, ± 2-4 mm. long; style 7-11 mm.. Capsule ovoid, 10-14 mm. long and with a cuspidate apex.. Seeds 5-6 mm. long.
