Plants usually shorter than 40 cm.. Leaves erect and often narrowly lanceolate, up to 30 cm. long and 0.7-3.5 cm. wide, spotted or unspotted.. Inflorescence a dense spike.. Perianth-segments green, up to 4 mm. long, both inner and outer segments connivent; inner ones ligulate and usually narrower than the outer.. Filaments flattened, triangular and united with the perianth-segments at their base.. Ovary 1-2 mm. long; style slender and ± as long as the ovary.. Capsule ± 5 mm., subglobose with 1-2 seeds.. Seeds 2-4 mm.
