Spreading shrub to 1 m high. Branchlets glabrous, smooth and cream-coloured when young, becoming resinous in lines. Leaves shortly petiolate, crowded, ascending, terete, slender, c. 16 mm long, rounded at apex with a short mucro, rugulose, glossy, glabrous. Flowers solitary, sessile. Sepals ±equal, suborbicular, c. 8 mm long, glabrous, resinous. Corolla constricted below middle; petals narrowly oblong, c. 15 mm long, fawn-coloured below, dark red towards apex, glabrous. Stamens: filaments united to near apex, c. 20 mm long; free portion of filaments densely sericeous, dark red; anthers c. 4.5 mm long.
