Characteristics

A small tree up to 7.5 m.. Young shoots and petioles minutely fulvous-puberulous at first, soon glabrescent.. Petioles 3–4(–7) mm. long; leaf-blade oblong-oblanceolate to elliptic-lanceolate, 8–12(–16) cm. long, 3–4(–6) cm. wide, obtusely acuminate, slightly asymmetrically cuneate, very shallowly crenate-serrate to subentire, thinly coriaceous, lateral nerves 6–8 pairs, looped within the margin, tertiary nerves reticulate, only very slightly prominent above and beneath, sparingly pubescent on the midrib above and beneath at first, soon glabrescent.. Stipules triangular, 0.7 mm. long, pubescent, soon falling.. Flowers axillary, fasciculate.. Male flowers several per cluster; pedicels up to 5 mm. long, pubescent; sepals 4, ovate-suborbicular, 2 mm. long, 1.5 mm. wide, sparingly pubescent without, glabrous within, cream-coloured; stamens 4, 3 mm. long, anthers 1 mm. long; disc small, ± 2 mm. diameter, lobulate and plicate around the margin, smooth, with a conical central projection, glabrous.. Female flowers 2–4 per cluster; pedicels as in the ♂; sepals 4, suborbicular, 3 mm. long, 2.5–3 mm. wide; disc larger than in the ♂ flowers, flat, entire, glabrous; ovary 2-locular, pubescent; styles 2, linear; stigmas broadened and somewhat bifid at the apex.. Mature fruit not known.
