Characteristics

Shrubs aromatic, 0.8-1.5 m tall. Branches densely stellate-puberulent. Petiole short or obsolete; leaf blade lanceolate to oblanceolate, 4.5-10 × 1-2.5 cm, adaxially puberulent, glandular hairy, lanate, abaxially gray, stellate-tomentose, base cuneate, margin serrulate except for entire base, apex acute to acuminate; lateral veins 6-or 7-paired, conspicuously elevated abaxially. Spikes 4-13 cm, pedunculate, base interrupted; verticillasters many flowered; bracts subulate to linear, to 1 mm. Pedicel ca. 0.5 mm. Calyx campanulate, ca. 2 mm, ca. 1 mm wide at mouth, densely stellate-tomentose; teeth triangular-subulate, subequal, posterior 2 usually longer, ca. 0.5 mm; fruiting calyx tubular, to 3.5 × 1.5 mm. Corolla white to greenish yellow, ca. 5 mm; tube ca. 0.7 mm wide at base, widening to 1.5 mm wide at throat; upper lip ca. 0.6 mm, apex emarginate; middle lobe of lower lip circular, margin irregularly incised, ca. 1.5 × 1.5 mm; lateral lobes semicircular. Anterior stamens exserted; filaments filiform, glabrous. Stigma lobes unequal. Nutlets yellow, oblong, ca. 1.5 mm, smooth. Fl. Sep-Oct, fr. Nov.
