Characteristics

Presumably annual herb ± 50 cm tall; stems smooth, glabrous.. Leaves sessile, lanceolate, 5–11 cm long, 0.4–1.6 cm wide, base sagittate, auriculate and semi-amplexicaul, margins obscurely sinuate-denticulate, especially on the auricles, apex obtuse, apiculate, glabrous.. Capitula 4–6 in lax, divaricate terminal cymes, discoid; stalks of the individual capitula slender, glabrous; involucre cylindrical, 5–6.5 mm long, 2 mm in diameter; phyllaries 12–14, 4.5–5.5 mm long, glabrous.. Disc florets mauve, corolla 5.5 mm long, tube glabrous, lobes 1–1.2 mm long.. Achenes 1.4 mm long (very immature), glabrous; pappus 3.5–4 mm long.
