Characteristics

Annual herb 10–45 cm tall; stems erect, light green, scattered-pubescent.. Leaves light green, sometimes purple beneath, sessile, elliptic, the upper also obovate or narrowly obovate, elliptic or linear, 1.8–7.5 cm long, 0.3–1.4 cm wide, cuneate into a petioloid base or in upper leaves often attenuate, margins subentire, remotely shallowly sinuate-serrate, apex obtuse, apiculate, shortly pubescent.. Capitula 2–5 in lax terminal corymbs; stalks of the individual capitula shortly pubescent; involucre cylindrical, 5.5–8 mm long, 1.5–2 mm wide; phyllaries (7–)8(–9), green with yellow to brown tips, 5–8 mm long, pilose at least in upper half.. Florets white, cream or pale yellow, corolla 4.5–6 mm long, tube glabrous, lobes 1–1.5 mm long.. Achenes 1.7–2.2 mm long, glabrous; pappus 3.5–7 mm long.
