Annual herb 8–20 cm tall, with basal leaf rosette and 1–5 flowering stems; stems erect or semi-erect, little branched, glabrous.. Leaves subsessile, the lower broadly elliptic, 1–2.7 cm long, 1–1.8 cm wide, base rounded but near the very base cuneate into a 2 mm petiole, margins entire or minutely undulate, apex rounded with a tiny obtuse mucro; upper leaves very few, more narrowly elliptic and smaller, semi-amplexicaul at base; all leaves subglabrous with some minute hairs on midrib and margins.. Capitula 1–few in lax long-stalked terminal cymes, discoid but with the external flowers slightly zygomorphic; stalks of the individual capitula slender, glabrous; involucre cylindrical, sometimes slightly swollen at the base, 4–5 mm long, 2–2.5 mm in diameter; phyllaries 5–6, 4–5 mm long, connate for much of their length, puberulous in upper half or glabrous except for the minutely penicillate apex.. Disc florets white; corolla tube 1.6–2.5 mm long, lobes 1–1.4 mm long, glabrous.. Achenes to 2.1 mm long, setulose on the ribs; pappus sparse, 1–1.5 mm long, subplumose.. Fig. 124 (page 597).
