Erect annual herb 30–40 cm tall; stems slender, glabrous.. Leaves sessile, lanceolate, 1–2 cm long, 0.1–0.2 cm wide, base cuneate, margins sinuate-denticulate, apex acute, glabrous.. Capitula 2 in lax terminal corymbs, discoid; stalks of the individual capitula very slender, glabrous; involucre cylindrical, 4.5 mm long, 1.5 mm in diameter; phyllaries 8, 4 mm long, glabrous.. Disc florets purple; outer corollas 4.5 mm long, unequally lobed, with 2 large outer lobes 2.5 mm long and 3 smaller inner lobes 1.8 mm long; inner corollas 3.7 mm long, with lobes 1.5 mm long.. Achenes 2 mm long, glabrous; pappus 1.5 mm long, scant.
