Characteristics

Short-lived perennial tufted herb 30–60 cm tall; stems glabrous or almost so.. Leaves sessile, subsucculent, glaucous, spatulate, 3–5.6 cm long, 1–2 cm wide, cuneate or attenuate into a petioloid base, coarsely sinuate-dentate on distal margins and sometimes also near base, apex rounded in outline, scattered hairy to glabrous.. Capitula solitary, radiate, long-stalked; stalks of the individual capitula glabrous; involucre cylindrical, 7.5–9 mm long, 3–5 mm in diameter; phyllaries (12–)13(–14), 7–8.5 mm long, pubescent.. Florets yellow to orange-yellow.. Ray florets 13, tube 3.8–6 mm long, hairy at apex, rays 6.7–9 x 2.8–4 mm; disc florets 6.5–7 mm long, tube with a few hairs about the middle, lobes 0.5–0.7 mm long.. Achenes 3–3.5 mm long, shortly hairy; pappus 5–6.5 mm long.
