Perennial geophyte, 50-200 mm high; corm sheaths light brown, upper part rarely very dark brown. Leaves up to 8, lanceolate, 2-10 mm wide, softly pleated, hairless or ribs occasionally hispid when young. Flowers yellow, sometimes lemon-scented; tepals 10-25 mm long, outspread from a 20-80 mm long neck; stamens suberect; ovary subterranean; style much longer than stigma. Flowering time Mar.-June.
