Characteristics

Shrub or small tree, 1.5-3.0 m high. Leaves ovate or elliptic, up to 45 x 25 mm, base tapering to rounded, apex acuminate; sparsely hairy on midrib below; hair tuft domatia in axils of principal lateral veins below; petioles hairy. Stipules hairy, awn ± 4 mm long. Flowers axillary, in 3-flowered cymes, white. Corolla: cylindrical tube ± 3 mm long. Flowering time Aug.-Nov. Fruit drupaceous, globose, ± 5 mm in diam., crowned with 4 lobes of persistent calyx.
