Characteristics

Soft, straggling to erect herb or shrub, 0.5-1.5 m high, much branched; stems hispid. Leaves petiolate, broadly ovate, upper surface thinly pilose, undersurface hispidulous and reticulately veined, apex obtuse to truncate, margins shallowly crenate-serrate. Inflorescences: lax racemes of many spaced verticils; verticillasters 2-12-flowered; bracts ovate, acuminate. Flowers white. Calyx 5-toothed, bilabiate, accrescent, hispidulous. Corolla Sub-Equally 4-lobed; tube cylindrical, slightly wider at throat. Stamens 4, inserted above middle of corolla. Style simple or obscurely bifid. Flowering time Nov.-May. Fruit suborbicular or oblong nutlets.
