Characteristics

Perennial shrub or small tree, 1.80-3.05 m high; much-branched; branches slender, glabrous. Leaves opposite, ovate or suborbicular, base rounded or truncate, sometimes subcordate, apex acute, rounded or truncate; green above, glaucous-green beneath. Inflorescence terminal, in 2-8-flowered, ebracteate fascicles. Flowers 4-merous, shortly pedicelled. Hypanthium: tube constricted below middle, glabrous or with few silky hairs; sepals oblong, spreading during flowering. Petaloid floral glands 8, somewhat fleshy lobes, linear-spathulate. Stamens subsessile. Ovary shortly stalked, densely hirsute.
