Characteristics

Tuberous geophyte. Tuber irregularly shaped and warty, skin dark brown, interior pale to deep pink, growing point basal to lateral. Leaf hysteranthous, suberect to prostrate, broadly ovate to orbicular-cordate, glabrous or occasionally hirsute abaxially. Inflorescence up to 400 mm high, subspicate, secund, with up to 26 flowers. Pedicels up to 9 mm long. Flowers triangular. Tepals dimorphic, outer spreading, elliptic, acute, apex recurved, inner erect, broadly spathulate, apex crisped fimbriate, cream-coloured with a broad midnerve or overlaid with red streaking. Stamens with ovate filaments, gradually tapering towards pale green or yellow anthers. Ovary green, as long as white style. Flowering time Jan., Feb.
