Characteristics

Perennial herb with small rootstock and numerous fleshy roots; stems trailing or erect, 20–30 cm tall, rather densely leafy, ± branching, white-tomentose, ± glabrescent, often also with some glandular setae.. Leaves cauline, sessile, (ob-) lanceolate, 2–6 cm long, 0.5–1.7 cm wide, slightly narrowed or attenuate towards the slightly semi-amplexicaul base, serrulate with revolute margins, acute, minutely apiculate, white-tomentose with prominent often glandular-setulose veins beneath, glabrescent to green and glabrous above.. Capitula radiate, solitary at the branch apices on rather long densely tomentose stalks; involucre shortly campanulate-cylindrical, at first thinly araneose, glabrescent, 10 mm long; phyllaries 25–35, 3-seriate, narrowly lanceolate, those of the outer series equalling or shorter than the inner, glabrescent, the margins shortly laciniate-dentate with a few teeth, the longest to 8.5 mm long; receptacle scales narrowly triangular-lanceolate, with acute shortly laciniate-dentate apices, ± 9 mm long.. Ray florets 6–7, female-sterile; corolla 12.5–17 mm long, rays white or pink, elliptic, obovate-oblong or obovate, apically deeply or broadly 3-toothed, 7–11 mm long; disc florets ± 25–30; corolla like the rays in colour, glabrous, 7–9.5 mm long, lobes narrowly oblong, 3–4.5 mm long.. Achenes 7 mm long, finely puberulous; pappus bristles linear, tawny, 5.5–7.5 mm long, acute.
