Much-branched shrubby herb 180-250 cm tall; stems striate, shortly spreading-pubescent.. Leaves narrowly ovate, 6-14.5 cm long, 1.5-2.4 cm wide, base attenuate, margins coarsely sometimes remotely serrate or dentate, apex acute, sparsely finely hairy on the main veins, otherwise almost glabrous.. Capitula numerous, in rather dense corymbiform cymes; stalks of individual capitula densely pubescent; involucre campanulate, 2.2-3 mm long; phyllaries 2-3-seriate, narrowly ovate, 2.5 mm long, green with white scarious margins, obtuse, ciliate.. Corolla lavender or mauve, 2.5-3.5 mm long, glandular, tube shortly hairy, limb infundibuliform, lobes 1.2-1.5 mm long.. Achenes turbinate, 1-1.4 mm long, (2-)4-5-ribbed or-winged, with a very short apical rim.
