Characteristics

Tree to 30 m, more commonly to 21 m. Juvenile leaves broadly ovate to suborbicular. Adult leaves alternate, lanceolate, acuminate or uncinate; lamina 7–13 cm long, 1.2–2.5 cm wide, grey-green to green; lateral veins just visible, at 40°–60°; intramarginal vein up to 1 mm from margin; petiole terete, 17–25 mm long. Peduncle terete, 5–8 mm long; pedicels 3–5 mm long. Buds ovoid; operculum conical, 2–3 mm long, 1–2 mm wide; hypanthium hemispherical, c. 1 mm long, 1–2 mm wide. Fruits hemispherical, c. 2 mm long and wide; disc rudimentary, ascending; valves exserted.
