Characteristics

Tree to 11 m. Bark rough, flaky, grey-brown on lower trunk, then smooth, red-brown to grey above. Juvenile leaves lanceolate, grey-green, concolorous. Adult leaves narrowly lanceolate, acuminate; lamina 6–9 cm long, 0.5–1.1 cm wide; lateral veins faint, at 20°–30°; intramarginal vein up to 1 mm from margin; petiole terete, 8–12 mm long. Peduncle angular, slender, 7–24 mm long; pedicels 3–5 mm long. Operculum horn-shaped, 11–13 mm long, 4–5 mm wide; hypanthium cylindrical, 3–5 mm long, 4–5 mm wide. Fruits cylindrical or subpyriform, 7–9 mm long, 4–7 mm wide; disc narrow, level; valves 3 or 4.
