Characteristics

Tree to 9 m, straggly, usually deciduous. Bark salmon or khaki. Juvenile leaves not seen. Adult leaves usually alternate, sometimes opposite, triangular to broadly lanceolate, rounded, thin, lamina 6–12 cm long, 3.5–6 cm wide, pale green, concolorous; lateral veins clearly visible, at 35°–40°; intramarginal vein up to 2 mm from margin; petiole terete, 23–35 mm long. Umbels 3–7-flowered; peduncle quadrangular, 4–10 mm long; pedicels quadrangular, 2–5 mm long. Buds globular to ovoid; operculum hemispherical to conical, 3–4 mm long, 4–5 mm wide; hypanthium hemispherical, 2–3 mm long, 4–5 mm wide. Fruits hemispherical to turbinate, 3–4 mm long, 4–5 mm wide; disc convex or slightly descending; valves 3, level.
