Characteristics

Shrub; branchlets densely ferruginous pubescent at first; older parts leafless, glabrous, with grey-brown slightly fissured bark.. Leaves elliptic (or broadly obovate fide Hoffmann), 1–5 cm long, 0.8–2.4 cm wide, slightly acute to rounded at the apex, cuneate to rounded at the base, slightly pubescent when young and persistently so on the midrib beneath; petioles 3–5 mm long.. Female flowers not seen; male flowers in 1–6-flowered fascicles in axils of leaves or fallen leaves; pedicels 0.6–1.4 cm long with dense spreading white and ferruginous hairs 0.5–0.7 mm long, slightly glandular; bracteoles minute, very densely ferruginous pubescent.. Calyx-lobes 4, ovate, 3 mm long, 2.5–3 mm wide, ± rounded, pubescent outside, ciliate.. Petals white, ovate or elliptic, 6–7 mm long, 4.8–5 mm wide, ciliate.. Stamens ± 60 with filaments ± 3.5(–6) mm long.. Style absent.. Fruit not seen.
