Perennating organs subterranean, tuberous, irregularly fusiform, obliquely conical or ellipsoidal, tuberous, 1.5–3 cm. long, 8–15 mm. diameter, borne 6–25 mm. apart on a slender rhizome; roots scattered along rhizome and tuber, 1–1.5 mm. diameter.. Leaves 1–2, 3-veined, erect, 25–40 cm. long, 5 mm. wide, subtended by 2 sheaths.. Inflorescence produced before the leaves, 3–7-flowered; peduncle 18–60 cm. long, slender, bearing 3–4 scattered acute sheaths along length; rhachis 2.5–13 cm. long; bracts lanceolate, acuminate and bristle-like at the apex, 8–20 mm. long..
