Petals slightly concave, subcircular, obtuse, 5–6.5 mm. long, 5–8 mm. wide.. Lip 3-lobed, erect, 9–12 mm. long, 5.5–11.5 mm. wide; side lobes triangular; mid-lobe reduplicate, elliptic-triangular; callus of 5 fleshy rugulose ridges separated by a transverse lacerate flap from saccate base of lip.. Column 2.5 mm. long; foot absent.. Fruit pendent, 12–21 mm. long.. Fig. 107/1–8, p. 472.
More
Plants with subterranean, moniliformous rhizomes; leaves thin-tissued, with slightly crispate margins and noticeable abscission layer, not fully developed at anthesis, up to 250 x 65 mm; flowering stem 300-600 mm tall. Inflorescences lax and elongate, 3-20-flowered. Flowers: sepals dull lime-green with dark reddish brown tinges, petals bright lemon-yellow outside with brownish red lines on pale yellow inside, lip yellow with redªdish brown lines. Sepals and petals spreading, subequal; median sepal 9-12 mm long, narrowly obovate, retuse; lateral sepals similar; petals broadly obovate, about 2x as broad as the median sepal. Lip 3-lobed, erect, fused to mentum, crests consisting of very low fleshy ridges along the central veins; midlobe acute and incurved, apex almost touching the gynostemium; mentum 5 mm long, broad and concave inside, the distal portion of the concavity obscured by a lacerate lamella 2-4 mm high, inserted transversely at the base of the lip lamina. Gynostemium 5 mm long, tapering from a broad base.
Lip 9–16 × 5.5–11.5 mm, 3-lobed; side lobes erect, mid-lobe bent down at a right angle, the tip bent up again so that it almost touches the column, elliptic-triangular with a callus of 5 fleshy ridges; base of lip saccate, with a transverse, lacerate flap of tissue in front of it.
Terrestrial herb, up to 0.6 m high. Lip with a fringed lamella 2-4 mm high, lying transversely near base; midlobe of lip tapering and curved up to be close to end of 5 mm-long column. Flowers with petals and lip bright lemon-yellow with brownish red lines along veins inside.
Perennating organs partly above ground, pseudobulbous, 15–40 × 10–17 mm, conical, forming a chain; roots white, 2.5–3 mm in diameter.
Inflorescence rather laxly up to about 20-flowered, produced either before the leaves or just as they are starting to appear.
Leaves 3–5, the 2 lowest sheathing, the others 7.5–14 × 2.3–5.5 cm, ovate to elliptic, plicate, bright green.
Sepals greenish or purple-brown; petals and lip yellow, heavily veined with purple.
Sepals 5–15 × 4–5 mm, spreading, sometimes twisted, obovate, obtuse.
Petals 5–10 × 5–10 mm, suborbicular, ± overlying the column.
Bracts 4–12 mm long, lanceolate, acuminate.
Pedicel and ovary arched, 8–12 mm long.
Column 2.5 mm long, lacking a foot.
Terrestrial herb 10–50 cm tall.
