Characteristics

A terrestrial herb 12–25(–40) cm. tall.. Perennating organs pseudobulbous, closely clustered, erect, conical-cylindric, 2.5–4 cm. long, 6–8 mm. wide, 3–4-noded; roots 1.5 mm. diameter.. Leaves 5–9, in a fan, not plicate, linear, acuminate, 5–30 cm. long, 1–2 mm. wide, lowermost 3–4 sheathing.. Inflorescences 1–2, produced with developing leaves, laxly 4–10-flowered; peduncle wiry, 1 mm. diameter; rhachis 2–8 cm. long; bracts narrowly lanceolate, acuminate, 7–9 mm. long.. Flowers with maroon or purple-brown sepals; petals green or yellow with a brown central vein; lip white or yellow or green sometimes with pale mauve on mid-lobe; pedicel and ovary 7–9 mm. long..
