Perennating organs underground, tuberous, irregularly fusiform to oblong-ellipsoidal, 2.5–4 cm. long, 1.5–2.5 cm. diameter, 3–5-noded; rhizome short, 6 mm. diameter; roots slender, 1.5 mm. diameter, mainly from rhizome.. Leaf solitary, erect, grass-like, linear, acuminate, 24–32 cm. long, 6–8 mm. wide, subtended by 2 sheaths.. Flowers not opening wide, creamy-white, the lip with a deep purple blotch on the mid-lobe, with a yellow or cream papillose patch nearer the throat, and sometimes another purple area right at the base of the lip.
