Characteristics

Herbs, perennial. Rhizome short. Stems 50-120 cm tall, often woody at lower part, decumbent, sometimes forming tussocks, glabrescent. Leaves opposite, shortly petiolate; petiole 3-8 cm; blade adaxially shiny, obovate to elliptic-lanceolate, 8-10 × 5-7 cm, subglabrous, abaxially glandular, 3-veined, base truncate or cordate, margin simple, serrate with obtuse teeth, apex long acuminate. Capitula numerous in terminal corymbs; synflorescence 10-17 cm in diam., ± loose; phyllaries 4-5 mm; corollas white to pale pink, 3-4 mm. Achenes 2.5-3 mm; pappus white, ca. 5 mm. Fl. and fr. Jan-Aug. 2n = 20.
