Characteristics

Autoecious, very pale yellow, lax, slender, dwarf, in close tufts with, thin spreading leaves; stems 1-2 cm long, prostrate, 2-pinnate, the pinnae about 5-branched, all branches rising erect to the same level if crowded, or if lax spreading, the final branches 3-5 mm long, slightly complanate, often with leaves in four rows; leaves erecto-patent or spreading, 0.5-1.25 µ long, lanceolate-acute but not subulate, dentate or strongly denticulate, with fairly strong nerve often present to near the apex; cells rhomboid, 50 x 20 µ, the marginal teeth often wider and oblong, the basal cells gradually shorter and wider. Seta 1 cm long, red. smooth; capsule small, inclined, brown, with obliquely beaked lid, wide ring, and long, narrow, white calyptra. Per. teeth red, narrow; processes narrow not perforated; cilia two, small.
