Characteristics

A repeatedly branching, erect or ascending, glabrous shrublet, 2-4 dm high, closely leafy in the upper parts, lower down clothed with linear-acuminate leaf remains, basally denuded. Leaves suberect-erecto-patent, 1-2 cm long, pinnatipartite with 2-4 lobes on each side, some 3-sect or entire; leaf-lobes erecto-patent, opposite-alternate, linear, 1-4 mm long, c. 0.5-0.8 mm wide, flattened, subacute with a minute often white blunt point; rachis and lobes adaxially with a fine impressed midvein; rachis flattened, 0.6-1 mm wide; leaf-base somewhat dilated. Peduncles terminal, solitary or 2 together, erect or ascending, 5-15 cm long, 0.5-0.7 mm thick, terete, often reddish or purplish. Involucre widely cupshaped-hemispherical, 0.7-1 cm in diam., often slightly intruse at the base. Involucral bracts uniseriate, c. 13 (11-15), lanceolate(-narrowly ovate), 4-6 mm long, 1-1.5(-2) mm wide, connate to the middle, acuminate, indistinctly (3-)veined, puberulous-tipped, often purplish towards the apex. Receptacle convex, often hemispherical, shallowly alveolate. Ray-florets 11-15, yellow, concolorous but reverse often red after drying. Tube cylindrical, 0.8-1.5 mm long. Lamina narrowly oblong-oblanceolate, 5-7 mm long, 1.5-2 mm wide, 4-veined. Style terete; style branches 0.3-0.5 mm long, truncate. Disc-florets c. 40-60. Corolla 2-2.8 mm long. Tube cylindrical, 0.7-1 mm long. Limb campanulate, 1.3-1.8 mm long; lobes deltoid, 0.4-0.5 mm long, acute. Anthers c. 1 mm long incl. the narrowly ovate, obtuse-subacute appendage. Style terete; style branches 0.3-0.4 mm long with truncate or somewhat convex tips. Pappus 0. Achenes oblong-narrowly oblong-obovate, c. 2 mm long and 1 mm wide, dark green-brown, with c. 10 low broad ridges, distinctly and densely tuberculate.
