An erect branching shrub, 3-12 dm high. Young branches leafy, distinctly and sometimes copiously cobwebby in the leaf-axils with a lax deciduous tomentum; old branches nude and marked with leaf-scars. Leaves closely set, erecto-patent-spreading, glabrous, (0.7-)1-2(-3) cm long, pinnatipartite with 2-3(-4) lobes on each side or 3-forked below the middle, seldom entire or bipartite; leaf-lobes 1-10(-15) mm long, linear-filiform, subterete-flattened, 0.6-1 mm wide, erecto-patent-suberect, narrowly midveined, acuminate, often with whitish tips; rachis up to 1.5 mm wide. Peduncles terminal, solitary, up to 2 cm long but usually 0.5-1 cm long or sometimes very short, erect, 0.5-1 mm thick, striate, glabrous. Involucre widely campanulate, 1.5-2 cm in diam. and c. 1 cm high. Involucral bracts uniseriate, usually 13 (11-15), connate to 1/3-1/2, 8-12 mm long, 1-3 mm wide, lanceolate, acute-acuminate, coriaceous, sometimes purplish-tipped, distinctly 3-lined, glabrous except for the minutely puberulous tips. Receptacle somewhat convex, alveolate. Ray-florets 13-17, yellow, often with bronzered reverse. Tube cylindrical-flattened, 1-2 mm long. Lamina elliptic-oblong-linear, 7-15 mm long, 2-4.5 mm wide, 4-5-veined. Style terete; style branches 0.5 mm long. Disc-florets c. 50-100 (or more). Corolla 3.0-4.2 mm long. Tube cylindrical, 0.8-1.5 mm long. Limb narrowly campanulate, 2-3 mm long; lobes narrowly ovate, 0.8-1.3 mm long. Anthers 1.5-2 mm long incl. the narrowly triangular acute appendage. Style terete; style branches 0.5-0.8 mm long with conical tips. Pappus 0. Achenes narrowly oblong, 2-3 mm long, 0.8-1.2 mm wide, with an apical annulus and with 8-12 longitudinal distinct slender ribs, yellowish-dark brown or greenish, glabrous.
