Characteristics

A small erect shrub, up to 1 m high. Upper branches erect and straight, densely leafy, lower down becoming nude and marked with leaf-scars, glabrous-glabrate, often with surface resin. Leaves spreading and distinctly curved upwards, linear, completely entire, 0.5-1.5 cm long, c. 1 mm wide, glabrous, slightly keeled on the lower side, somewhat canaliculate on the upper side, apiculate or short-acuminate. Peduncles lateral in the upper leaf-axils, in a corymb-like arrangement, 0.5-3(-4) cm long, slender, 0.5 mm thick or less, somewhat thicker below the involucre, straw-coloured, glabrous, terete, + striate. Involucre cupshaped, 3-7 mm wide, 3-4 mm high, glabrous. Involucral bracts 7-13, free from the base, subuniseriate and partly overlapping, 3-4 mm long, narrowly oblong-oblong-ovate, 3-nerved, somewhat gibbous towards the base, obtuse-subacute, puberulous-tipped. Receptacle slightly convex, alveolate. Ray-florets 7-11, yellow. Tube 1-1.5 mm long, cylindrical. Lamina oblong-narrowly elliptic-oblong, 3-5 mm long, 1.5-3 mm wide, 4-nerved. Style terete with slightly swollen base; style branches 0.5-0.8 mm long, truncate-obtuse. Disc-florets c. 20-30. Corolla 2.5-3.2 mm long. Tube c. 1 mm long, cylindrical. Limb campanulate, 1.5-2.2 mm long; lobes narrowly ovate, 0.8-1 mm long. Anthers 1.2-1.5 mm long incl. the ovate obtuse appendage. Style terete or flattened with swollen base; style branches 0.3-0.5 mm long, truncate-slightly convex. Pappus bristles several-numerous, 1-1.5(-2) mm long, white. Achenes narrowly oblong-obovate-oblanceolate, 1.7-2 mm long, 0.5-0.7 mm wide, densely white-villous, mucilaginous when soaked.
