Euryops ericoides (L.F.) B.Nord.

A low erect glabrous shrublet, repeatedly branching from the base with 2-4 branches at each ramification; branches closely leafy, usually short (internodes 2-5 cm long). Leaves entire, almost subulate, somewhat triquetrous, from a dilated decurrent leaf-base tapering to an acute-acuminate (sometimes more mucronate) often white point, curved upwards-inwards from a spreading or erecto-patent basal part (occasionally more appressed), 2-5(-10) mm long, at the base c. 1 mm wide with lateral flattened edges, tapering to c. 0.3 mm around the middle, usually laterally bisulcate and with narrow lateral edges. Leaf-axils often with a sparse lax tomentum. Peduncles terminal at the branch ends and ramifications, solitary, erect, slender, terete, smooth or faintly striate, (5-)10-20(-23) cm long, c. 0.3-0.6 mm thick. Involucre widely cupshaped-campanulate, c. 1 cm in diam. or somewhat less. Involucral bracts uniseriate, usually 13 (11-15), 4-5 mm long, connate to 1/3-1/2, lanceolate or ovate with often membranous margins, acute-acuminate, (often indistinctly) 3-lined, usually with a bluish-purplish tinge, minutely puberulous-tipped. Receptacle convex, becoming subcorneal, alveolate with sometimes very distinct pit-margins. Ray-florets 10-15, yellow, with sometimes reddish reverse. Tube cylindrical, c. 1 mm long. Lamina narrowly oblong-linear, 5-10 mm long, 1.6-2 mm wide, 4(-7)-veined. Style terete or flattened; style branches 0.5-0.8 mm long. Disc-florets c. 30-50. Corolla 3-3.5 mm long; tube cylindrical, 0.8-1.2 mm long; limb narrowly campanulate, 2-2.5 mm long; lobes deltoid-ovate, 0.5-0.8 mm long. Anthers 1-1.5 mm long incl. the ovate appendage. Style terete; style branches 0.5-0.7 mm long with shortly conical to almost truncate tips. Pappus 0. Achenes oblong-obovate with an apical collar-shaped annulus, 1.5-2 mm long, 0.6-1 mm wide, glabrous, with c. 10 rather indistinct warty ridges, giving the surface a laxly bullate appearance, greenish-yellowish brown.
