Characteristics

A decumbent slender shrublet, up to a few dm high (?), glabrous except for leaf-axils, repeatedly branching; branches decumbent-ascending, leafy towards the tips, lower down nude and clothed with linear-acuminate-subulate, persistent leaf-bases; cortex grey, cicatricose, somewhat sulcate. Leaves closely set, erecto-patent, narrowly linear, 1-2.5 cm long, 0.5-1 mm wide, many entire and some 2-3-forked from or above the middle (occasionally pinnatipartite with 2 pairs of lobes), flattened, coriaceous-subcarnose, indistinctly midveined, acute-subobtuse, acutely apiculate with a firm, whitish-brownish point; leaf-base dilated, almost half-clasping, arachnose-woolly in the axil. Peduncles lateral in the upper leaf-axils, several on each branch, ± erect, filiform and slender, 3.5-9 cm long, 0.2-0.4 mm thick, straw-coloured, somewhat sulcate. Involucre cupshaped-somewhat campanulate, 4-6 mm in diam. Involucral bracts 8-12, uniseriate, narrowly oblong-lanceolate, 2.5-3.5 mm long, 0.6-1.2 mm wide, connate to 1/4-1/3, herbaceous, distinctly 1-3-veined with thick resiniferous veins, somewhat acute with blunt puberulous tips, basally slightly gibbous. Receptacle somewhat convex, distinctly alveolate with raised pit-margins. Ray-florets 5-6, yellow. Tube 0.5-1 mm long, cylindrical. Lamina elliptic-oblong, 2.5-3 mm long, 0.8-1.4 mm wide, 4-veined. Style somewhat flattened with slightly swollen base; style branches 0.8-1 mm long, obtuse. Disc-florets c. 20-35. Corolla 2.5-3 mm long. Tube 0.7-1 mm long, cylindrical. Limb campanulate, 1.8-2 mm long; lobes deltoid, 0.5-0.7 mm long. Anthers 1.2-1.5 mm long incl. the oblong-ovate obtuse appendage. Style terete or flattened with slightly swollen base, fertile or sterile; stylophore short but distinct; style branches 0.1-0.5 mm long, truncate, with or without stigmatic surfaces. Pappus bristles few, 0.5-1 mm long, somewhat flexuous, white, densely barbellate. Achenes oblong-obovate, 2-2.5 mm long, 0.8-1 mm wide, densely hirsute with short, ± appressed, light brownish hairs, with c. 8 faint ribs under the indumentum.
