Characteristics

A slender glabrous erect or ascending shrublet, probably c. 2-4 dm high, branching dichotomously often with unequal branches or suppression of one branch. Branches closely leafy; old branches clothed with dry leaf remains, finally denuded. Leaves very closely set, erecto-patent-spreading, 5-10 mm long, pinnatisect with 2-4 pairs of lobes; leaf-lobes mostly opposite, 2-5 mm long, erecto-patent-spreading, 0.1-0.2 mm wide near the base, filiform-subulate, evenly tapering to very fine setiform points; rachis basally c. 0.5 mm wide, flattened, midveined, tapering towards the apex; leaf-base somewhat dilated. Peduncles terminal, solitary or 2-3 together at the ramifications, sometimes seemingly lateral through the suppression of branches, erect or ascending, ± flexuous, 3-8 cm long, filiform, 0.2-0.3 mm thick, terete, somewhat thickened below the capitulum. Involucre campanulate, 4-6 mm in diam. Involucral bracts uniseriate, 8, ovate-lanceolate, c. 3 mm long, connate to the middle or slightly more, 3-lined, subacute-obtuse with minutely puberulous tips. Receptacle narrowly conical, c. 1 mm high, indistinctly alveolate. Ray-florets 5(-8), yellow. Tube cylindrical, 0.6-0.8 mm long. Lamina elliptic-oblong, 4-5 mm long, 1.8-2.2 mm wide, 4-veined. Style terete; style branches 0.2-0.3 mm long, truncate. Disc-florets c. 15-25. Corolla c. 2 mm long. Tube cylindrical, c. 0.5 mm long. Limb campanulate, c. 1.5 mm long; lobes deltoid-ovate, 0.4-0.6 mm long. Anthers c. 1 mm long incl. the narrowly ovate subacute appendage. Style terete; style branches c. 0.1 mm long with slightly convex to almost truncate tips. Pappus 0. Achenes narrowly oblong-oblong-obovate, 2.2-3 mm long, 1-1.3 mm wide, with a narrow apical annulus, light brown-honey-coloured, without distinct ribs, finely papillate with short whitish papillae.
