Characteristics

Woody herb 15–45 cm tall; stems much branched, densely leafy.. Leaves sessile, linear or slightly oblanceolate, entire, 1.2–6 cm long, 0.1–0.15 cm wide, with a slightly expanded membraneous base, apex obtuse to subtruncate and obscurely acuminate, glabrous except for marginal hairs towards the base and for some long woolly hairs at the base and in the leaf axils.. Capitula solitary on long axillary peduncles, radiate; stalks of individual capitula ebracteolate, 5–13 cm long, glabrous; phyllaries 13, broadly ovate or ovate-oblong, 5–6 mm long, united in lower 1/3 or 1/2, acute, ciliate on upper margins, otherwise glabrous, 3–5-veined.. Ray florets (12–)13(–14), yellow, rays 9.5–12 x 2.5–3.5 mm, usually 4-veined; disc florets many, yellow, 2.8–4 mm long, the tube cylindrical but basally inflated.. Achenes narrowly oblong, 2.5 mm long, 5–8-ribbed, pilose; pappus of many white bristles 1–2 mm long.
